Subtitle Study Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
The developer does not collect any personal information. Subtitle Study has no developer server and does not track usage.
2. Information stored in your browser
Your settings, your word list (words, example sentences, video titles and links to the scene), your review progress, and any AI service API key you enter are stored only in your browser (chrome.storage). The extension also records the date it was first installed (used only to keep features free for early users if paid features are added in the future). Settings and this install date may be synced to your own Google account through Chrome sync. None of this is sent to the developer. Removing the extension deletes the information stored in your browser.
3. Information sent to other services
To show translations and dictionary entries, the following is sent to other services:
- Google Translate: subtitle lines and words you click
- Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev): English words you click
- AI services (whichever of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI you choose): only when you turn on AI translation — subtitle lines, the video title, and your API key
- Gemini on the web (gemini.google.com): only when you press “Ask Gemini” — that subtitle line (or the word, if you pressed it from a word). It is sent from the Gemini tab under your own Google account. When you use “Ask Gemini” from the word list, the extension reads Gemini’s answer to that question in the Gemini tab and saves it to your word list in your browser. It does not read any other Gemini conversations
Information sent to these services is handled under each service’s own privacy policy. Any AI service fees are billed to you directly by that service.
4. How the extension works on video sites
On supported video sites, the extension reads the subtitles of the video being played and shows them on screen. It does not collect other page content, browsing history or account information. It has no feature to download or save videos or subtitles.
5. Sharing with third parties
The developer does not sell or share your information with third parties, and does not use it for anything other than the purpose of this extension.

1. 収集する情報
開発者は、利用者の個人情報を収集しません。本拡張機能には開発者のサーバーがなく、利用状況の計測も行いません。
2. ブラウザ内に保存する情報
設定、単語帳（単語・例文・動画のタイトルと場面へのリンク）、復習の進捗、利用者が入力したAIサービスのAPIキーは、利用者のブラウザ内（chrome.storage）にのみ保存されます。また、拡張機能を最初に入れた日時を記録します（将来有料の機能を追加した場合に、それ以前からの利用者を無料のままにするためだけに使います）。設定とこの日時は、Chromeの同期機能により利用者自身のGoogleアカウントで同期される場合があります。これらの情報が開発者に送信されることはありません。拡張機能を削除すると、ブラウザ内に保存された情報は削除されます。
3. 外部サービスへの送信
翻訳と辞書の表示のため、次の情報を外部サービスに送信します。
- Google翻訳：字幕の文、利用者がクリックした単語
- Free Dictionary API（dictionaryapi.dev）：利用者がクリックした英単語
- AIサービス（Anthropic、OpenAI、Google、xAIのうち利用者が選んだもの）：AI翻訳をONにした場合に限り、字幕の文と動画のタイトル、および利用者のAPIキー
- ブラウザ版Gemini（gemini.google.com）：利用者が「Geminiで解説」を押した場合に限り、その字幕の文（単語から押した場合はその単語）。Geminiのタブで利用者自身のGoogleアカウントにより送信されます。単語帳の「Geminiで解説」から使った場合は、その質問へのGeminiの回答の文章をGeminiのタブから読み取り、単語帳（ブラウザ内）に保存します。それ以外のGeminiの会話は読み取りません
送信された情報は各サービスのプライバシーポリシーに従って扱われます。AIサービスの利用料金は、各サービスから利用者に直接請求されます。
4. 動画サイトでの動作
本拡張機能は、対応する動画サイトで再生中の動画の字幕を読み取り、画面に表示します。字幕以外のページ内容、閲覧履歴、アカウント情報は収集しません。動画や字幕をダウンロード・保存する機能はありません。
5. 第三者への提供
開発者は、利用者の情報を第三者に販売・提供しません。本拡張機能の目的以外に利用しません。
